End Violence against Women: Information and Resources
Collects and shares in one central location information on the latest research, tools, project reports, and communication materials produced in the worldwide struggle to end violence against women. Health Information and Publications Network (HIPNet)
Health Information and Publications Network is a working group of organizations who work with the Global Health Center of USAID. Its purpose is to encourage cooperation among organizations, eliminate duplication of materials, and promote the dissemination and utilization of each organization's materials. Join the listserv

Implants Toolkit
The Implants Toolkit provides up-to-date and accurate information, guidance on best practices, and resources and tools to help improve access to and quality of services. It includes information on the new implants: Implanon®, Jadelle®, and Sino-Implant (II).

Implementing Best Practices in Reproductive Health (IBP/ECS) Knowledge Gateway
The Knowledge Gateway provides a space for online communities of practice. Makes access to existing best practices, guidelines and documents in reproductive health easier. The IBP Global Community of 3,800+ members share ideas, successes, experiences, and lessons learned. INFO is collaborating with WHO Division of Reproductive Health and Research (WHO/RHR) to manage and promote the Knowledge Gateway. To join the Knowledge Gateway contact info@ibpinitiative.org.

Interagency Youth Working Group 
Over 900 resources on reproductive health and HIV/AIDS for young people ages 10-24 in developing countries. This site is hosted for the Interagency Youth Working Group (IYWG) by INFO with content managed by Family Health International.  

IUD Toolkit 
This toolkit provides comprehensive, standardized, scientifically accurate, and evidence-based information on the IUD. It also provides guidance on best practices as well as tools to help improve access to and quality of IUD services. Because it is a long-term, reversible method, the IUD could meet the contraceptive needs of many women. Expanding access to the IUD with high quality services helps fulfill women’s right to contraceptive choice and contributes to sustainable family planning programs. The IUD Toolkit was compiled by members of the IUD Subcommittee of USAID's Maximizing Access and Quality Initiative.

Injectable Contraceptives Toolkit 
This comprehensive toolkit provides up-to-date and accurate information, guidance on best practices, and resources and tools to help improve access to and quality of services.  Includes information on both progestin-only and combined hormonal injectables. Use the tabs above to view resources for specific audiences, including program managers, providers, policy makers, logistics managers, communication professionals, trainers, and researchers.

MAQ Web 
Brings together USAID/Washington, USAID Missions, the cooperating agency (CA) community, and others to improve access to and quality of family planning and reproductive health services. 

Postabortion Care Website  
Provides comprehensive, standardized, scientifically accurate, and evidence-based information on postabortion care. It serves as a repository of basic instruments intended for policymakers and program planners who are designing or revising their current postabortion care program.

Reproductive Health Gateway  
Gateway to relevant, reliable, reproductive health information. Searches 140 selected websites with information on reproductive health. Includes links to Listservs and E-newsletters.

Resources for HIV/AIDS and Sexual and Reproductive Health Integration
This community website provides a comprehensive knowledge base for health professionals working to integrate the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS with sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. Users can access the latest research and evidence-based approaches to integrating prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS with SRH services, as well as materials documenting field program experiences, practical tools for integrated service delivery, news, and conference materials. 

 

eForums

Online forums organized by INFO include: 

Intrauterine Devices (IUDs): Contraception or Controversy? (February 19-22, 2008) Learn what developing country practitioners are asking about the IUD. Population Council, The ACQUIRE Project/EngenderHealth, and The INFO Project, with support from partners of the Implementing Best Practices (IBP) Initiative and WHO/RHR organized a four-day online discussion on IUDs. More than 170 people from 45 countries participated in the discussion. The majority of contributions came from practitioners from Kenya, Swaziland, Congo, Nigeria, Myanmar, and China.

 

Contraceptive Implants: An Opportunity to Share Your Experiences With Colleagues (January 28 - February 1, 2008). In this one-week online discussion, health professional around the world shared their experiences with contraceptive implants in diverse service delivery settings. This forum provided an opportunity to review the latest guidance on contraceptive implants featured in Family Planning: A Global Handbook for Providers and exchanged information and experiences with colleagues who are working to provide good-quality implant services. 225 participants from over 40 countries participated.

Elements of Successful Family Planning Programs (December 10 - 21, 2007). The forum provided an opportunity to review research findings and reach consensus on the core elements contributing to successful family planning programs. Healthy Timing and Spacing of Pregnancy (HTSP) (November 26 - December 14, 2007). This forum provided state-of-the-art information on HTSP. Experts answered questions and provided insights on programmatic implementation based on their own experiences. The forum was sponsored by ACCESS-FP, the Extending Service Delivery (ESD) Project, Health Communication Partnership (HCP), and The INFO Project based at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health's Center for Communication Programs in collaboration with Implementing Best Practices (IBP) in Reproductive Health Initiative and WHO/RHR. Over 315 people from over 52 countries participated in the three-week long forum discussion. In addition, these organizations hosted a videoconference, linking sites in Baltimore, Jordan, Uganda, Kenya, and Switzerland to highlight some of teh research in the field of HTSP.  

Sexual and Reproductive Health of Persons with Disabilities (November 19 - 23, 2007). In this one-week online discussion, experts in the areas of sexual and reproductive health and disabilities shared their feedback on the draft UNFPA-WHO Guidance Note on Sexual and Reproductive Health of Persons with Disabilities. Over 85 people from 26 countries participated in the discussion providing great feedback and insight for the guidance note's author.  

Strengthening Service Delivery and Counseling for Injectable Contraceptives (November 7 - 20, 2007). In this two-week online discussion, health professional around the world shared their experiences with injectable contraceptives. The first week focused on service delivery, while the second week focused on counseling issues. The discussion was guided by the interest of participants, and included diverse topics such as counseling about bleeding changes, ensuring safe injections, offering injectables in community-based distribution programs, etc. The INFO Project with the support of Partners of Implementing Best Practices (IBP) Initiative and WHO/RHR organized the forum. 80 people from more than 22 countries participated in the discussion.  

Bringing New People to Family Planning: The Broader Impact of the Fertility Awareness Approach(October 22 - November 2, 2007). In this two-week online discussion, colleagues around the world shared their experiences introducing the Standard Days Method and the TwoDay Method in diverse service delivery settings and explored factors that can facilitate or hinder successful integration into programs. IRH and the INFO Project with the support of Partners of Implementing Best Practices (IBP) Initiative and WHO/RHR organized the forum. 225 people from more than 40 countries participated in the discussion.  

Nurses for Mental Health: How can we overcome the challenges and build on successes to provide effective mental health care in resource poor settings? (September 2007). The forum drew on the issues and messages contained in the Mental Health Atlas 2005. The forum was sponsored by WHO Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse (WHO/MSD) in collaboration with International Council for Nurses (ICN), supported by WHO Department of Reproductive Health and Research (WHO/RHR), WHO Department of Human Resources of Health (WHO/HRH), Partners of Implementing Best Practices (IBP) Initiative and Members of the Global Alliance for Nurses and Midwives (GANM). More than 615 people from 80 countries participated in the discussion. To read the summary, click here

Strategic Communication for Behaviour Change Globally: The Power of the Media (March 26 to May 4, 2007). The objective of this 6-week discussion forum was to share effective strategies in the area of popular culture and youth-led media for sexual and reproductive health promotion, drawing on UNFPA's Youth Peer Education Network's expanded, innovative partnerships. Cosponored with UNFPA's Division for Arab States, Europe and Central Asia. Postpartum Family Planning Global Forum on LAM and the Transition to Other Modern Methods (March 19-30, 2007).  "Everything you ever wanted to know about the Lactational Amenorrhea Method and the transition to other modern methods!"  Organized by ACCESS-FP, implemented by JHPIEGO in partnership with Save the Children, Constella Futures, the Academy for Educational Development, the American College of Nurse-Midwives and Interchurch Medical Assistance. Expert guests included Dr. Marcos Arevalo from Georgetown University, Dr. Miriam Labbok from UNC/Chapel Hill, and Ms. Maryanne Stone-Jiménez from the Academy for Educational Development. More than 190 people from 36 countries participated in the discussion.  

Client-Provider Interaction in FP/HIV Integration (March 5 to 16, 2007).  As a follow-up to the March 1 global videoconference on Improving Client-Provider Interaction: Responding to Clients’ FP Needs in HIV/AIDS Service Settings, an online discussion forum was held on the same topic. 394 people from 61 countries contributed to the discussion. A web cast of the videoconference as well as each daily posting from the online forum are archived here.
 
Leadership for Action: The Contribution of Nurses and Midwives to Health and the Achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (September - October 2006). Cosponsored with the Global Alliance for Nursing and Midwifery (GANM) Communities of Practice. 980 people from 94 countries joined this global discussion and subtopics included: personal experiences in leadership and education, education for leadership, leadership for making pregnancy safer, and using networks and information technology as tools to lead in the field of nursing and midwifery.
 
Client and Provider Perspectives on Integration of Family Planning Counseling and HIV/AIDS Services (May 2006). Cosponsored with Health Communication Partnership (HCP).  477 people from 58 different countries joined this forum.  Forum participants represented at least 100 different organizations. There were a total of 77 postings. 
 
The Female Condom: Accelerating Access and Use (October - November 2005). Cosponsored with PATH and WHO Division of Reproductive Health and Research.   
 
Youth Forum on Pregnancy Prevention in a Time of HIV/AIDS (March - April 2005). Cosponsored with YouthNet/FHI and the Implementing Best Practices in Reproductive Health Initiative (IBP).  More than 640 people from 82 countries joined the forum. Of those, 87 people from 32 countries (28 of them developing countries) made a total of 129 postings.
