DMPA INJECTABLE CONTRACEPTIVE

  • Very effective and safe.
  • One injection every 3 months.
  • Bleeding changes are normal - spotting, light bleeding between periods, and, after one year, often no periods. Some weight gain or mild headaches can occur.
  • Private. Others cannot tell that a woman is using it.
  • Women who stop using DMPA to becom pregnant take an average of 4 months longer than usual. DMPA does not cause permanent infertility. 
  • Safe during breastfeeding, beginning at 6 weeks after childbirth.
  • Helps prevent uterine tumors and pregnancy outside the womb.
