Interagency Youth Working Group
This one-stop electronic source contains new publications and information on youth reproductive health and HIV prevention. It generally features new program resources with links, such as tools, curricula, program reports, and unpublished research findings, as well as summaries of peer-reviewed research papers published in the last month on developing country research. This publication began as part of the YouthNet program (2001-2006), led by Family Health International (FHI). FHI is continuing to produce Youth InfoNet as an activity of the IYWG, beginning with issue No. 28.

Links are also provided to free full text documents under program resources. To request a copy of a research article, click on the article title. You will be redirected to the IYWG database, where you can add the research article to your Request Basket. These Web sites provide a link to a number of current resources, not simply a description of a youth program or a single resource. In October 2005, Youth InfoNet 19 featured Web sites designed specifically for young people; this issue features sites designed for adults working with young people.

Summaries and links to 14 program resources include reports on adolescent orphans, trends on first marriage for young people, guidelines for obtaining information ethically from young people, and more. Summaries of eight research articles include findings from Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe addressing attitudes toward contraception, STI vaccination, the needs of adolescent orphans, and other topics.
Youth InfoNet No. 17. Summaries and links to 19 program resources include reports on establishing cyber cafes to improve youth reproductive health, a manual for HIV counseling and testing for youth, a youth participation guide, and more. Summaries of 20 research articles include findings from

Summaries and links to 12 program resources include a manual on conducting a situation analysis of orphans and vulnerable children and reports on projects addressing early marriage, youth-friendly services, education, and the effects of war on the reproductive health of girls. Youth InfoNet No. 12. This issue includes 21 summaries of recently released studies, all covering issues related to the context of youth sexual behavior, including six studies that focused specifically on sexual coercion and related issues. Findings come from Brazil, Cameroon, the Caribbean, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and global studies.
Youth InfoNet No. 11. This issue focuses exclusively on program resources, with summaries and links to 23 recent resources covering a wide range of issues, including orphans and vulnerable children, child marriage, franchised youth clinics, sexuality education, recent World Health Organization and collaborative United Nations agency publications on various HIV prevention issues, post-abortion care, and other issues.
YouthInfoNet No. 10. This issue provides an update to the 2002 YouthNet publication, New Resources Available on Youth Reproductive Health and HIV Prevention, YouthLens No. 1. The issue summarizes 18 major resources on global issues published from 2002-2004 and also offers a "South-to-South" resource, with eight recent publications from Asia and the
Youth InfoNet No. 9. Summaries and links to 15 program resources focus on orphans and vulnerable children, gender and HIV infection, trafficking, risk and protections, and more. Summaries of 19 research articles include findings from Brazil, Indonesia, Nigeria, South Africa, Thailand, Zimbabwe, and other countries on compensated sex, early age of sex as a risk factor for HIV infection, gender issues, and more.
Youth InfoNet No. 8. This issue departs from Youth InfoNet's regular format to provide summaries of 24 presentations on youth reproductive health and HIV made at the annual meeting of the Global Health Council, "Youth&Health: Generation on the Edge," held June 1-4, 2004, in Washington, DC. Topics covered include behavior change communication, community involvement, voluntary counseling and testing, peer education, orphans and vulnerable children, youth involvement, and policy. This is the second (and final) installment of these conference summaries.
Youth InfoNet No. 7. This issue departs from Youth InfoNet's regular format to provide summaries of 23 presentations on youth reproductive health and HIV made at the annual meeting of the Global Health Council, "Youth&Health: Generation on the Edge," held June 1-4, 2004, in Washington, DC. Youth InfoNet No. 5. Summaries and links to 13 programs focus on peer education, orphans and vulnerable children, youth involvement, media projects, and more. Research summaries from Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tunisia, Uganda, and developed countries include findings on factors that affect youth behaviors, innovative interventions, and more.
Youth InfoNet No. 4. Summaries with links to 11 programs that report on orphans and vulnerable children, young refugees, nonconsensual sexual experiences of young people, research approaches discussed at project meetings, new training materials, and more. Research summaries from Vietnam, Mali, Kenya, and developed countries highlight the continuing need for education, condom accessibility, and looking at the holistic lives of youth.
Youth InfoNet No. 3. This issue provide summaries of 30 presentations on youth reproductive health and HIV made at the annual meeting of the American Public Health Association, held November 15-19, 2003 in San Francisco, California.
Youth InfoNet No. 2. Summaries and links to 13 program resources feature a sourcebook of HIV/AIDS education prevention programs, a tool for assessment of youth friendly services, and other programmatic tools. Research summaries from studies in South Africa, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and other countries are included, along with summaries of 12 studies from developed countries.
Youth InfoNet No. 1. Summaries and links to 10 program resources focus on policy tools, especially in Asian countries, as well as global and country-level reports. Research summaries from studies in Mexico, the Caribbean, Ghana, South Africa, and other countries appear, along with five new abstracts from developed countries.
